Effect of Intel's power management on web servers

While benchmarking some tweaks to Hasura we noticed some strange behavior. We were measuring latencies for a simple GraphQL request being served by Hasura. Surprisingly Hasura was performing better when there was more load on the system than otherwise. At 100 requests per second the processor load was low enough that the processor going to sleep was negatively impacting the latency measurements.…
