For publishers
Your words stay yours. Sutradhar is a thread that leads readers to your blog, never a substitute for it.
What we show
- Title, author, publish date and source attribution, always.
- A short excerpt — 400 characters by default (1,200 is the hard ceiling) and never more than 10% of longer articles (with a 160-character floor so very short posts still get a meaningful snippet), and never images or diagrams.
- A prominent "continue reading" link straight to the original on your site (no redirects, no wrappers).
- Structured data that credits the original article as the source (
isBasedOn).
Opt-out & takedown
Any publisher can change how we treat their content — at any time, no questions asked:
- Link-out only — we list headlines linking to you, no excerpt shown (set
excerptLimit: 0). - Shorter excerpt — any limit from 0 to 1,200 characters, applied to reading pages, cards and digests alike.
- Full removal — the source and all its stories disappear from the site.
Requests are honored within 21 days (the rhythm of the linking exception in India's Copyright Act §52(1)(c)). To make one, open an issue titledTakedown or Opt-out on this site's public GitHub repository — the direct link appears here as soon as the repo launches.
Why aggregation helps
Engineering blogs exist to be found by engineers. Independent research on news aggregators (Calzada & Gil, 2020, Marketing Science) found that aggregator shutdowns cut publisher traffic by 8–14% — with the deepest losses for smaller publishers. Sutradhar exists to send India's engineering writing more of the readers it deserves.
